| In 1851, Fruit of the Loom set up its first spinning mill in Warwick, Rhode Island/USA, where apparel and other textiles of cotton were produced. The vertically integrated enterprise comprises all the production sectors from spinning to apparel manufacturing. The product range of Fruit of the Loom comprises T-shirts, polo-shirts, sweatshirts, jogging pants, outdoor fleece products, ladies' wear, children's wear and underwear. The company has a workforce of over 25,000 world-wide. Its products are sold to more than 75 countries. In Europe alone, it employs 3000 people. Own production sites in Ireland and in Europe and Sales Centres all over Europe ensure excellent market service. Owing to the vertically integrated structure of the manufacturing plants in these countries, the production process can be influenced at all levels, from the raw cotton to the finished piece of clothing. Uniform and consistent quality of all products is thus ensured. However, the company has its focus not only on quality, but also on market analysis and surveying the degree of customer satisfaction. The result of a consumer survey carried out in 2002 was, that in Europe the Fruit of the Loom brand is known to around 67 % of the people interviewed, in the USA to around 95 %.
